Carmel has many attractions which are located close to the boutique hotels downtown Carmel and best accessed on a guided walking tour through the city. The Carmel Mission is listed as a National Historic Landmark and dates back to the 1770s. The art scene in Carmel is unbelievable with so many galleries, studios and exhibitions that showcase many upcoming and established artists. The Big Sur lies 26 miles to the south of Carmel and offers the Andrew Molera State Park for the nature lovers. The McWay Falls along the way to the park is a cascading waterfall with picturesque scenery.
